This week one of the most popular debuts at the New York Auto Show was the Lincoln Aviator. Yup, Lincoln is bringing back the Aviator SUV and previewed it with a near-production concept at the show. If you’re worried that the production version won’t look like the stunning concept, don’t worry, since Lincoln has confirmed that it will be nearly identical.

Speaking to Road & Track, Lincoln design boss David Woodhouse confirmed that the production version that is going to arrive next year won’t be very different than the concept we saw in New York. The biggest difference we expect will be different mirrors and maybe a few other small detail changes. The Lincoln Aviator will be based on a new rear-wheel drive platform that will be shared with the next-generation Ford Explorer.

The three-row SUV will also feature a twin-turbocharged V6 and a plug-in hybrid version will also be on the options list. Obviously all-wheel drive will also be optional, with the plug-in hybrid getting standard AWD.
