Infiniti plans to electrify its lineup starting in 2021 and next month it will preview a future electric crossover with the debut of a new concept at the Detroit Auto Show.
The electric crossover concept will be based on a new EV platform, which Infiniti says “heralds a fresh approach to what crossover and sedan platforms look like, both inside and out. ” Since the new EV platform doesn’t need to reserve space for a conventional engine and transmission, it can allocate more space for the interior.
“The concept car we will show in Detroit is the beginning of a new era for Infiniti, and an illustration of where we want to go with the brand. Electrification and other new technologies have given us the opportunity to evolve our design philosophy,” said Karim Habib, Executive Design Director, Infiniti.
