Honda recently resurrected the Insight name for its compact hybrid sedan, but could Honda be getting ready to bring back another hybrid? Late last month Honda trademarked the “CR-Z” name with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, which might mean that Honda is planning another hybrid with the CR-Z name.
The Honda CR-Z left Honda’s lineup after the 2016 model year, but it’s not known yet if the recent trademark is actually for a new hybrid with the same name or if Honda is simply just preventing another automaker from using the name.
We’ll have to wait and see, but it would be great if the CR-Z name were used by a new sporty electrified model in Honda’s lineup. Maybe even a fully electric model this time. With the recent demise of the Civic Coupe, we’d love to see Honda add another small sporty car to its lineup.
