Jaguar Land Rover currently only has one electric vehicle in its lineup, the Jaguar I-Pace, but it will soon offer more fully electric vehicles. It’s already been reported that the next-generation Jaguar XJ will make a switch to a fully electric powertrain and now a report claims that Range Rover is also about to get its first electric SUV.
Autocar is reporting that an electric Range Rover SUV will arrive by the end of 2021. It will be positioned between the Evoque and Velar in the lineup, but with a lower roofline and shorter front. Since it doesn’t need the space for a conventional engine, the electric Range Rover will also likely have a bigger interior than the Velar.
Underneath the skin, the electric Range Rover will likely share many of its parts with the next-generation Jaguar XJ, including the brand’s new flexible Modular Longitudinal Platform (MLA). It’s not known how far the electric Range Rover will be able to travel, but the MLA platform is expected to have a driving range up to 290 miles, thanks to a battery pack as large as 90.2kWh.
