Tesla officially took the wraps off the Tesla Model 3 on Friday night, when it also handed over the first 30 Model 3 sedans. Tesla released several details about the Model S, including its Long Range version that gives it a range of 310 miles. While most of the details were released, some still wondered what Tesla has planned for the Model 3, including a performance version.

Tesla Model 3 Performance Version

Tesla CEO Elon Musk took to Twitter to answer a question about a performance version of the Model 3, where he stated that it will probably arrive next year. Right now Tesla is trying to get through “production hell” before it adds extra versions of the Model 3, which should take about six months.

The fastest version of the Model 3 right now can reach 60 mph in 5.1 seconds, but the performance version of the Model 3 will likely drop that time down significantly. It won’t be as fast as the Model S with its 0-60 mph time of 2.5 seconds, but a time around three seconds could be possible. It will obviously be a dual motor version as well.
