New car buyers continue to prefer crossovers over sedans and wagons, so this bit of news isn’t too surprising. Buick has confirmed that the Buick Regal will die after the 2020 model year in the US.

Speaking to Motor Authority, Stuart Fowle, Buick and GMC communications manager stated, “Buick continues to be ahead of the consumer shift toward SUVs. In fact, nearly 90 percent of Buick sales to date this year have been crossovers. Although the Regal will no longer be offered in the U.S. and Canada, it will be sold in China where demand for sedans remains significant.”

This means that the 2021 Buick lineup will now consist of only crossovers, since the Lacrosse sedan was killed off earlier this year and the Cascada convertible is done after the 2019 model year.
