Mini is getting ready to transition to a fully electric lineup and now Mini has announced that it is working on a new design language for its future EVs. Mini’s Charismatic Simplicity design theme will be previewed in July with the debut of a new electric crossover concept. Mini has released this teaser that gives us a preview of the new concept.

Mini says that the Charismatic Simplicity design language is a design that helps each new model differentiate itself with a strong individual character of its own, intuitively focusing on the essence of the brand with a clear, reduced design language. Additionally the new design language focuses on “a keen eye on sustainability” and every model will “offer the ideal combination of a small footprint and available interior space.”

“Purely electrically powered models from MINI give us a unique opportunity to rethink our design. At the same time, we retain the attention to detail, sense of tradition and passion for innovation that MINI is renowned for,” says Oliver Heilmer, Head of Mini Design.

The next-generation Mini models will be based on a new platform that has been developed from the start for EVs. This includes a new electric Mini 3-door and the successor to the Mini Countryman.

Inside the new Mini models will have a minimalistic design with the archetypal circular central instrument screen. The display will feature OLED technology and Mini says that its world’s first car manufacturer to offer a touch display with a fully usable round surface. The interior will also be devoid of leather and it will have less chrome than the current models.
