The current-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee is getting a bit old, but an all-new Grand Cherokee is just around the corner. Although, Jeep has yet to announce any big details about the next-generation Grand Cherokee, several new reports have released a bit more details.
First it’s being reported by The Detroit News that FCA is going to convert an idled engine plant into an assembly plant in Detroit, which will build the next-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Mack Avenue Engine II hasn’t been used since 2012, but now it will reportedly be revived to build the 2021 Grand Cherokee. The revived plant will also add about 400 new jobs.
Sources have also revealed that the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee will be offered with three rows of seats for the first time ever. FCA has also revealed that the 2021 Grand Cherokee will also be offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain and autonomous driving technology.
It’s expected that FCA will reveal all the details in a week or so.
