When the Subaru Solterra was introduced, it was a bit disappointing that it only had a driving range up to 220 miles, which is far below its rivals. But now Subaru has fixed that with the updated 2026 Solterra, which can now drive up to 285 miles on a single charge, which is a 25 percent improvement.

The 2026 Solterra gets a new all-wheel drive system with front and rear electric motors, which feature an improved controller to improve the AWD system. The front and rear motors are also more powerful with a combined 233 horsepower. A new Solterra XT trim level adds more powerful motors to give it 338 horsepower and a 0-60 mph time under 5 seconds.

The new lithium-ion battery charges from 10-80 percent in less than 35 minutes at speeds up to 150 kW. It also features standard NACS ports giving it access to Tesla Superchargers.
