We recently spent a week with the 2024 BMW X2 and often times we felt like we were actually in an X4, compared to the last generation X2. With the arrival of the new X2, which more closely mirrors the design and size of the X4, than the previous one, it looks like BMW is going to discontinue the X4.
BMW hasn’t made any official announcements, but BMW officials have reportedly confirmed to Motor1 that there will not be a next-generation X4 after the current model’s lifecycle is complete. Just like us, BMW doesn’t see a need for the X4 in its lineup thanks to the new X2.
We don’t know when it will be discontinued, but we expect soon, since BMW recently unveiled the new 2025 X3, which is what the X4 was based on.
