Bentley has unveiled the 2025 Continental GT, which marks the arrival the fourth generation of the Continental GT. The big news besides the new styling is that the Continental GT is now powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain, which makes it the most powerful road car Bentley yet.
The new Continental GT does share a lot with its predecessor under the skin, but the W-12 engine is now gone. In it’s place there’s a plug-in hybrid V8 powertrain with 771 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. The powertrain is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive.
The plug-in hybrid powertrain is also mated to a 25.9-kWh battery, which should give the Continental GT an electric-only range around 30 miles. It’s able to reach speeds up to 87 mph in electric mode and the battery can be recharged while you’re driving. To fully recharge the battery with a plug, it takes almost three hours.
The new Continental GT is not an all-new model, since only about 68 percent of its components are new. It’s now 1.8-inches longer at 192.7-inches, while its wheelbase is the same at 112.2-inches. At the front the biggest change are the new headlights with a new horizontal ‘eyebrow,’ a deep crystal cut diamond effect at the top and an illuminated lower pattern. This marks the first time that Bentley has built a model with single front headlights, since 1959.
The rear gets a new trunk lid, bumper, taillights and exhaust pipes. The new trunk lid is also designed to provide rear downforce without the need for a rear spoiler.
Inside the Continental GT’s cabin is even more exquisite than before with new color and trim options, like a new Dark Chrome package that gives a more toned down look and feel. Bentley’s bespoke division – Mulliner – will also be offering a collection of unique features for the new Continental GT.
At the center of the dashboard there’s the rotating display, which is a three sided display with a 12.3-in screen and three analog dials. Three audio systems are being offered: a standard system with 10 speakers and 650 Watts, a Bang & Olufsen 1,500 watt, 16-speaker system with illuminated speaker grilles, and a Naim 2,200 watt, 18-speaker system with Active Bass Transducers built into the front seats and eight sound modes.Â
