Mercedes-Benz has given us a glimpse of its upcoming Concept CLA Class, which previews the design direction for a new model family.

Teaser images show a striking front end featuring an illuminated grille, Mercedes star, and full-width light bar connecting two circular headlights. Another image shows the Concept CLA Class flanked by other iconic Mercedes-Benz vehicles, such as the SL and Vision EQXX Concept, hinting at this new concept’s inspiration.

In addition to providing a stylistic preview, the Concept CLA Class heralds the first application of a host of new technologies Mercedes-Benz plans to employ across its upcoming EV lineup. Dubbed an “electric hypermiler,” it will offer a Mercedes-Benz estimated range of more than 750 km (466 miles) and a consumption of around 12 kWh/100km (5.2 mi/kWh).

The Concept CLA Class will also be the first vehicle shown built upon Mercedes-Benz’s new Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA) and will debut an entirely new operating system dubbed MB.OS.

The Concept CLA Class will premiere at the Munich Motor Show on September 3rd.
