Ford has unveiled the an even more over the top version of the latest Mustang, that makes the Mustang Dark Horse look tame. It’s called the Ford Mustang GTD, which is inspired by the Mustang GT3.

“Mustang GTD shatters every preconceived notion of a supercar,” said Jim Farley, Ford president and CEO. “This is a new approach for us. We didn’t engineer a road car for the track, we created a race car for the road. Mustang GTD takes racing technology from our Mustang GT3 race car, wraps it in a carbon fiber Mustang body and unleashes it for the street.”
The Mustang GTD is a tour de force with its unique aero kit to increase downforce, a dual ride height short-long arm front and multilink rear suspension, Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, a rear mounted 8-speed automatic transmission and a carbon fiber driveshaft. Ford is targeting the supercharged 5.2 liter V8 to generate more than 800 horsepower.
On the outside the Mustang GTD design has been optimized for aerodynamic performance, like the front splitter, vented hood and fenders, and the available C-pillar mounted hydraulically controlled active rear wing. An extensive amount of carbon fiber was used to lower the Mustang GTD’s weight. The fenders, hood, cover that replaces the trunk lid, door sills, front splitter, rear diffuser and roof are all carbon fiber with optional carbon fiber front and rear fascias.
There’s also an available aero package that includes an underbody carbon fiber aerodynamic tray and hydraulically controlled front flaps to manage airflow.

The trunk has been repurposed to make space for the semi-active suspension, a hydraulic control system, and a transaxle cooling system. The Mustang GTD rides on wide tires with 325 millimeters in the front and 345 millimeters in the rear, that wrap 20-inch wheels. Buyers can choose either forged aluminum wheels or forged magnesium wheels.
The 2025 Ford Mustang GTD is priced at $300,000 and the first deliveries are slated to start at the end of 2024 or early 2025.
