Chevy has announced more updates to the 2024 Silverado HD, which includes the introduction of the off-road ready ZR2 trim level. This now means that the heavy duty Silverado is now even more equipped to tackle anything you can throw at it on- or off-road.

The ZR2 trim is exclusively offered in the 2500 Crew Cab models in ZR2 and ZR2 Bison versions. It’s available with either the 6.6L gasoline engine or 6.6L Duramax Turbo-Diesel. The ZR2 models get front upper and lower control arms and specific steering knuckles, Multimatic DSSV Dampers, a larger steel transfer case skid plate and front aluminum skid plate, rear e-locker, and 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires that wrap 18 x 9-inch aluminum wheels.
The Silverado HD ZR2 also gets a new Off-Road Mode that adjusts the anti-lock brakes, traction control and stability control. The Off-Road Mode also alters throttle progression and transmission shifts, and the locking rear axle does not have a speed limitation.
The HD ZR2 Bison was developed with American Expedition Vehicles (AEV), which gets steel bumpers with recovery points, winch mountings at the front, gloss black 18-inch AEV wheels, and steel underbody skid plates.
Inside the seats have been are wrapped in materials that make it easy to clean dirt off of and the 15-inch head up display has an off-road inclinometer. Production of the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD ZR2 and ZR2 Bison will begin this summer.
