Toyota has unveiled the U.S. spec version of the 2022 GR 86. The big news is that the GR (Gazoo Racing) 86 now has more power than its predecessor, thanks to a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 228 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque.

That’s a nice improvement over the last-generation 86 with its 205 hp and 156 pound-feet. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, while a six-speed automatic is optional. Toyota says that the GR 86 can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 6.1 seconds.

Toyota has yet to announce the pricing for the GR 86, but it will come standard with 17-inch wheels, a 7.0-inch digital gauge cluster and an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Premium trim level adds 18-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires. The color choices include Track bRED, Trueno Blue, Neptune Blue, Halo White, Steel Grey, Pavement Grey and Raven Black.
