A few months ago Toyota unveiled a sportier version of the Corolla, called the Corolla Apex Edition and now we know how much it will cost. CarsDirect is reporting that the pricing for the 2021 Toyota Corolla Apex Edition starts at $26,065.
The Apex Edition is available on two trim levels: SE and XSE. The standard Corolla SE starts at $23,370, but the Apex Edition adds $2,695 to bring the starting price to $26,065. The Apex XSE starts at $29,205, which is $2,385 more than the standard Corolla XSE. If you select the manual transmission, that’s an extra $390.
The Apex Edition adds a sportier suspension with unique coils that lower the Corolla by 0.6-inches and unique shocks and stabilizer bars. The suspension changes increase roll stiffness by 47% in the front and 33% in the rear.
There aren’t any power upgrades under the hood, so the Corolla Apex Edition is powered by the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 169 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. Buyers can choose either the six-speed manual transmission or a CVT. A catback exhaust has also been added and a 3.5-inch stainless steel tip.
On the outside, the Corolla Apex Edition stands out with a black body kit with bronze accents, a front spoiler, fog light covers, side moldings and a rear diffuser. It also comes in only three colors: Cement with a Black Sand Pearl roof, Super White with a Black Sand Pearl roof and Black Sand Pearl.
Toyota only plans to build 6,000 Corolla Apex Editions and out of that total only 120 will be equipped with the manual transmission.
